Re: Welcome to week six of the CJ Forum presented by Erika Martinez.
Incredibility handsome serial killer confesses to 39 murders
A 26 year old man from Goiania, Brazil has confessed
to murdering 39 people. Da Rocha has allegedly shot and killed all of his victims from a
motorbike, including a 14-year-old girl who was standing at a bus stop as well
as 16 women who include homeless people and transvestites. Da Rocha at the age
of 11 was sexually abused, I had an ordinary childhood until I was 11 claimed
DaRocha; I was sexually abused by a neighbor.
After that I felt like I was nothing, I felt
the anger growing in me from that moment on. When I was 22, I couldn't stop
myself anymore, it was like I had to do it," were the words from Da Rocha
as he was being interviewed. "I tried to do other things to get it out,
but they didn't work. He also admitted
that his motivation towards killing people was from “great anger” and killing
was the only way to get it out of his systems. It has been said that Da Rocha
has no love for himself, in fact, he has attempted suicide
He is being temporarily held in a single cell
in prison in the city. Da Rocha called on the wardens saying he was “in the
mood to kill”. He was put in a single cell because he would always answer
criminally and said he would kill one of the other inmates.
1.
Do
you think being sexually abused affects people mentally or can they get help to
eventually overcome the problem?
2.
If
Da Rocha had received help from the start, do you think he wouldn’t have
committed all those murders?
3. What would you suggest
for Da Rocha in terms of rehabilitation so that if he is released from prison
he will not be tempted to further commit heinous crime such as killing innocent
individuals?

On Oct.4 2014, Saturday
night in the regional Victorian city of Ballarat, Chef Marcus Volke was found
by police cooking and boiling many parts of his Indonesian girlfriend. Mayang
Prasetyo's remaining body parts was found in their apartment complex in plastic
trash bags. After police arrived Volke fled
the scene by feet.
It was noted he was
hiding from police by a wheelie bin beside the apartment complex. While there
he took his life but the motive for the killing is unknown. Reportedly, neighbors
said the couple from their account showed no signs of a couple with a trouble
history, so attempting to explain this incident is baffling for everyone. I have pasted two videos below for your review.
1.
Do you think there is ever a justifiable
motive for someone to commit an atrocity to this magnitude why or why not?
2.
If Volke had not committed suicide what
would you charge him with and why?

Re: Welcome to week four of the CJ Forum presented by Yazmin Arreola.
Hello everyone,
I hope all is well.
Hence, welcome to week four of the CJ forum, it is my hope each of you will enjoy
the noted crime which transpired September 23, 2014. This was truly a tragedy I
feel could have been avoided but as we all know the CJS can reactive verse proactive.
Ms. Harrell
On September 23, 2014 in
Inglenook, Alabama an employee that had been recently fired opened fire at his former
place of employment which was the local UPS store. Prior to the shooting the
suspect appeared at his prior place of employment wearing his UPS uniform so he
would not be noticeable. Hence, it was noted by the time the police responded to
the call the shooting had concluded with the death of three people including the
gunman that reportedly took his life. Additionally, the two victims are
believed to be higher-ranked employees; however, no one knows the gunman’s
motivation for the shooting.
Furthermore, police said there
were no other suspects and the shooting in currently under investigation, it should
be noted that the preliminary investigation has concluded that the shooter knew
exactly who he wanted to target. Also, a similar killing happened in April
where a FedEx worker wounded 6 people in Georgia before taking his own life.
1.
Do
you think businesses or agencies should revamp/revise their practices in
regards to background checks for their applicants? Why or why not?
2.
What
can the businesses do to prevent that any of their employees from returning to
retaliate because they have been fired? Please keep in mind as noted above the
terminated employees often returns and the results are deadly or injuries so
what could be done differently if anything to ensure this does not transpire
again?

Re: Welcome to week three of our interactive Criminal Justice Blogs!
Hello everyone,
Welcome to week three of our interactive Criminal Justice Blogs!
On February 27, 2012, T.J. Lane was a 17-year-old
sophomore at Chardon High School. Lane
was found guilty of killing three teens and wounding three others at his local
high school. Hence, Lane admitted his
crime, didn't offer a reason, and was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences
at the Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution in Lima without the possibility of
parole.
Lane lived
with his grandparents and was slow to open up about his personal life,
according to friends. While he was known by many around Chardon High School,
located 30 miles east of Cleveland, at the time of the shooting he was there to
be transported to Lake Academy Alternative School in nearby Willoughby (Alternative
Campus for teen’s).
It should be noted between 1995 and 1997, the first two years of
Lane's life, his father and his mother were both arrested for domestic violence. Additionally, his father also served prison
time for assaulting a police officer and he also was charged with holding a
different woman under running water and bashing her head into a wall, the
newspaper reported
1 1. Please review all the videos and interject
your perspective in regards to the noted incident.
3. Do you think a student raised by a guardian other than your biological parent pose a threat to society because of lack of parental guidance why or why not?
4. Do you think he continues to pose a threat to society who or why? Also what measures could be implemented to ensure he does escape prison again?
