Re: Welcome to week six of the CJ Forum presented by Erika Martinez.
Incredibility handsome serial killer confesses to 39 murders
A 26 year old man from Goiania, Brazil has confessed
to murdering 39 people. Da Rocha has allegedly shot and killed all of his victims from a
motorbike, including a 14-year-old girl who was standing at a bus stop as well
as 16 women who include homeless people and transvestites. Da Rocha at the age
of 11 was sexually abused, I had an ordinary childhood until I was 11 claimed
DaRocha; I was sexually abused by a neighbor.
After that I felt like I was nothing, I felt
the anger growing in me from that moment on. When I was 22, I couldn't stop
myself anymore, it was like I had to do it," were the words from Da Rocha
as he was being interviewed. "I tried to do other things to get it out,
but they didn't work. He also admitted
that his motivation towards killing people was from “great anger” and killing
was the only way to get it out of his systems. It has been said that Da Rocha
has no love for himself, in fact, he has attempted suicide
He is being temporarily held in a single cell
in prison in the city. Da Rocha called on the wardens saying he was “in the
mood to kill”. He was put in a single cell because he would always answer
criminally and said he would kill one of the other inmates.
1.
Do
you think being sexually abused affects people mentally or can they get help to
eventually overcome the problem?
2.
If
Da Rocha had received help from the start, do you think he wouldn’t have
committed all those murders?
3. What would you suggest
for Da Rocha in terms of rehabilitation so that if he is released from prison
he will not be tempted to further commit heinous crime such as killing innocent
individuals?

Re: Welcome to week five of the CJ Forum presented by Haline Penaloza.

Hello everyone,
It is my hope each of you enjoyed last week off. As we enter into week five of the Criminal Justice Forum I want to thank each of you for your hard-work and dedication thus far. Keeping strive for success!!!!
On Oct.4 2014, Saturday
night in the regional Victorian city of Ballarat, Chef Marcus Volke was found
by police cooking and boiling many parts of his Indonesian girlfriend. Mayang
Prasetyo's remaining body parts was found in their apartment complex in plastic
trash bags. After police arrived Volke fled
the scene by feet.
It was noted he was
hiding from police by a wheelie bin beside the apartment complex. While there
he took his life but the motive for the killing is unknown. Reportedly, neighbors
said the couple from their account showed no signs of a couple with a trouble
history, so attempting to explain this incident is baffling for everyone. I have pasted two videos below for your review.
1.
Do you think there is ever a justifiable
motive for someone to commit an atrocity to this magnitude why or why not?
2.
If Volke had not committed suicide what
would you charge him with and why?

Re: Welcome to week four of the CJ Forum presented by Yazmin Arreola.
Hello everyone,
I hope all is well.
Hence, welcome to week four of the CJ forum, it is my hope each of you will enjoy
the noted crime which transpired September 23, 2014. This was truly a tragedy I
feel could have been avoided but as we all know the CJS can reactive verse proactive.
Ms. Harrell
On September 23, 2014 in
Inglenook, Alabama an employee that had been recently fired opened fire at his former
place of employment which was the local UPS store. Prior to the shooting the
suspect appeared at his prior place of employment wearing his UPS uniform so he
would not be noticeable. Hence, it was noted by the time the police responded to
the call the shooting had concluded with the death of three people including the
gunman that reportedly took his life. Additionally, the two victims are
believed to be higher-ranked employees; however, no one knows the gunman’s
motivation for the shooting.
Furthermore, police said there
were no other suspects and the shooting in currently under investigation, it should
be noted that the preliminary investigation has concluded that the shooter knew
exactly who he wanted to target. Also, a similar killing happened in April
where a FedEx worker wounded 6 people in Georgia before taking his own life.
1.
Do
you think businesses or agencies should revamp/revise their practices in
regards to background checks for their applicants? Why or why not?
2.
What
can the businesses do to prevent that any of their employees from returning to
retaliate because they have been fired? Please keep in mind as noted above the
terminated employees often returns and the results are deadly or injuries so
what could be done differently if anything to ensure this does not transpire
again?

Re: Welcome to week three of our interactive Criminal Justice Blogs!
Hello everyone,
Welcome to week three of our interactive Criminal Justice Blogs!
On February 27, 2012, T.J. Lane was a 17-year-old
sophomore at Chardon High School. Lane
was found guilty of killing three teens and wounding three others at his local
high school. Hence, Lane admitted his
crime, didn't offer a reason, and was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences
at the Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution in Lima without the possibility of
parole.
Lane lived
with his grandparents and was slow to open up about his personal life,
according to friends. While he was known by many around Chardon High School,
located 30 miles east of Cleveland, at the time of the shooting he was there to
be transported to Lake Academy Alternative School in nearby Willoughby (Alternative
Campus for teen’s).
It should be noted between 1995 and 1997, the first two years of
Lane's life, his father and his mother were both arrested for domestic violence. Additionally, his father also served prison
time for assaulting a police officer and he also was charged with holding a
different woman under running water and bashing her head into a wall, the
newspaper reported
1 1. Please review all the videos and interject
your perspective in regards to the noted incident.
3. Do you think a student raised by a guardian other than your biological parent pose a threat to society because of lack of parental guidance why or why not?
4. Do you think he continues to pose a threat to society who or why? Also what measures could be implemented to ensure he does escape prison again?

Re: Zaira Lopez; week two 2014-2015 School Year.
Hello everyone,
Welcome to week two of the 2014-2015
school year. It is my hope you all are posting and noting your perspective as
it relates to the topics of the week. Friendly
reminder blogs are due Sunday by midnight.
Have a great weekend!!!
On September 8, 2014 Renata
Congleton, 27, drove drunk to Trinity Elementary School in Florida to pick up a
child, however, staff reportedly noted she was extremely intoxicated. Hence, her
blood-alcohol was more than five times the legal limit, registering at .413. So
school officials did not allow the child to leave the premise with Renata so
she fled crashing into two vehicles before the police reported to the
scene. When police were finally able to apprehend
Renata she was at her residence sitting on the porch, it should be noted
she resisted by kicking and scratching the deputies.
1. What would you charge Renata with
and why?

Re: Gio Lopez; week one 2014-2015 School Year.
Greetings everyone,
Welcome to week one!!!! Please read below and note your perspective
(one main response and two responses to your peers).
In Roanoke, Virginia a 2 year old girl was pronounced dead
on Sunday. Authorities say they received a call about a little girl who was
unresponsive. Authorities say the car that the girl was in was parked at a
residence and that temperatures reached 90 degrees that day. As of now, the
investigation is pending and authorities aren't sure what the cause of death
was, or if the girl was left in the car accidentally.
Do you believe that the parents left her in the car
accidentally or intentionally?
Would you charge the parents? Why or why not?

Re:Amy Perez, Jose Sanchez at.al.; week seventeen.
Welcome to week
seventeen. This week’s blog consists of a 20 year old female named Holly Bobo
that was last seen April 13, 2011. 3 suspects are under arrest and
investigation in connection to Holly’s disappearance. Her body is still not
found. Zachary Adams is Holly’s former boyfriend.
Please
review video and article information prior to noting your perspective. Hence, the prior post was deemed by my first period b class as too vague for each
of them to comment, so we have decided collectively to insert the video as well
as the article. Additionally, if you have commented based on the prior post please
select edit and or remove your post.
1. What
sanction should each suspect receive?
2. Why
should they get that sanction? Do you believe the suspects were all really involved
or just Zachary?

Re: Rolondo Rodrigue & Marisol Zaragonza; week sixteen.
Hello everyone,
Welcome to week sixteen!!!
Did you know a mother could be so cruel, please read below and note your perspective concerning this horrific crime in Pleasant Grove, Utah? Thirty-nine year old, Megan Huntsman confessed to police officers that she either strangled or suffocated six of her own babies’ right after she gave birth to them between the years of 1996 -2006. Huntsman's ex-husband, Darren West, contacted authorities after finding a baby wrapped in a plastic bag in the garage.
Authorities found each baby wrapped in either a towel or a shirt, placed inside of a plastic bag, and each was contained in a separate cardboard box. She appeared in court on Monday where she was faced with six counts of murder and is being held on a $6 million bail. Authorities noted the flowing, “What's not clear is why. A day after her arrest on charges of killing her six babies, investigators and her neighbors puzzled over the grisly discovery, including how she could have concealed half-dozen pregnancies over a 10-year period.”
1. What punishment if any do you feel Megan should receive for the crime in which she admitted to committed years earlier?
2. Do you believe Darren West should be investigated more thoroughly why or why not?

Re: Aide Duarte; week fifteen. March 25- 30, 2014 Hello everyone,Hello everyone,Hello everyone,
Tyler Schlegal, 17, was arrested after car racing with two friends that led to an accident Friday night on Gosling Rd. Schlegal, and two friends, Karson Cardoza and an unidentified teen male were leaving a movie theater after seeing the movie "Need for Speed" and decided to see how fast they could go in their cars down Gosling Rd. The two vehicles came into contact with each other, causing the vehicle Cardoza was in to lose control. The car then veered off the road and struck an Entergy electrical box before hitting a tree. Cardoza was able to escape from the passenger seat and ran to the nearest gas station for assistance. Schlegal fled the scene and parked his vehicle down the street as he returned back to the scene on foot.
As first responders were attempting to cut the driver out of the BMW, bystanders alerted police officer he was the driver of this tragic incident. Shenandoah police, who were on the scene, approached Schlegal who fled once again, leading the officers in a foot chase; he was later apprehended near the scene. Schlegal was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on charges of accident causing serious bodily injury, racing on a highway causing serious bodily injury and evading arrest.
1. Do you think the teenager received a light sentence why or why not?

Re: Crystal Charles week fourteen; March 17-23, 2014.
Hello everyone,
Welcome to week fourteen!!!
Arthur
Morgana III, of Eatontown, is accused of tossing his 2-year-old daughter into a
creek. Arthur weighed down the car seat
with a tire iron. He is charged with killing his daughter Tierra Morgan- Glove.
Prosecutors assert Morgan planned (premeditation) to murder the toddler, so he
could show her mother and the world that he was control.
The
lawyer for a Monmouth County man charged with tossing his 2-year-old daughter
into a creek while still strapped into her car seat says the real question for
the jury is not whether he did it, but whether he was thinking clearly that
night.
Additional
details: Arthur Morgan III, of Eatontown, is accused of weighing down the seat
with a tire-changing jack so it would sink. He is charged with killing his
daughter, Tierra Morgan-Glover.
1)
Do you believe that he acted deliberately or recklessly as his life spiraled
downward?
2)
New Jersey does not have a death penalty so what would you sanction Arthur
Morgan with?

Re: Jackie Magana week thirteen; February 24- 28, 2014.
On February 25, 2014, six police officers including their police chief were arrested for their role in preying/ targeting poor drivers in the state California. Hence, prosecutors in a rural California agricultural community said the police officers preyed upon the poor i.e. by impounding their cars as well as selling the vehicles when the owners could not afford the impounding fees. Sergeant Carrillo impounded over 200 cars and was found to be targeting poor Latinos individuals which he knew would not be able to afford the cost associated as it relates to impounding fees etc.
Many of the cars and trucks were sold by officers and many of them also kept other vehicles for personal use. The F.B.I. aided in the investigation as well as arrests. Henceforth, the defendants were arraigned on Monday, February 24, 2014, resulting in a closure of the police department’s business office because of the arrest of so many police officers/ civilians. There are additionally details which will be released before or during the trial. After reviewing this article I have several observations but I would like to note the following questions:
1. Do you think the officers involved should be punished based on their respective role in this incident or should all receive the same punishment?
2. Do you think they should receive a harsher punishment due to their racial profiling as it relates to pursuing Latinos that were poor and uneducated?

Re: Week thirteen; Jonathan Ramos.
Hello everyone,
Welcome to week thirteen of the blogs. Have a awesome weekend!!
SOUTH PASADENA, CA --
The quick thinking of a nine-year-old South Pasadena boy helped save his three-year-old sister's life when she was choking on a grape. The boy and the paramedics who responded to his 911 call were honored at a news conference on Thursday. The incident was used as a lesson on choking hazards. Yaleona Santos' snack time became a life-threatening emergency as a grape slipped down her trachea.
Question: Do you think younger children nowadays are more experience in using 911?
Why our why not?

RE: Elishua Williams week twelve: February 7-9, 2014.
Hello everyone,
Welcome to week twelve of the blog. I have an interesting incident involving a hire for murder plot which did not go as initially planned.
An Iowa woman has been sentenced to more than 7 years in prison for using a Craigslist help-wanted ad to solicit someone to kill her father. U.S. District Judge Linda Reade gave the 87-month prison term Wednesday to 23-year-old Megan Schmidt of Dubuque. Schmidt pleaded guilty in November to using interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder for hire. In a plea agreement, Schmidt admitted that she posted Craigslist ads seeking someone to do a "one-time job" for $10,000. She later told one man who responded that she wanted her father dead and that it would be best to "either shoot or stab him because he is a bigger man." That man contacted authorities. The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office then conducted an undercover operation that led to Schmidt's arrest.
1. Do you feel the internet can lead to more crimes and malicious acts such as these or do you feel the internet is safe and people will do as the man in this case and alert authorities before any citizens will be harmed, injured, or in worse case scenarios, dead?
2. What are some additional methods that can be promoted in order to make the internet a safer environment for its users?

Re: Jonathan Ramos’ week eleven; January 30- February 2, 2014.
Greetings everyone,
I hope you all had a marvelous break; hence, we are back active as it relates to our “BLOOGGING”, welcome back!!!!!!
On Saturday January 25, 2014 there was yet another mass shooting involving innocent victims. The mother of the U.S Maryland mall shooter described her son as ‘gentle person,’ but this offer no explanation or comfort to the victims or families that were impacted by this tragedy. The shooting that killed two people Brianna Benlolo, 21, and Tyler Johnson, 25 inside the Mall in Columbia stunned the community, especially those close to the accused gunman, 19-year-old Darion Marcus Aguilar. The teen's mother and a family friend said Aguilar, who had no criminal history, never showed any signs of violent behavior before the deadly shooting.
1. Do you believe that mass public shootings are becoming more rampant in the United States of America? Why or why not?
2. What should legislators do to deter or decrease the gun violence that is transpiring almost on a daily basis; in other words are they doing enough to prevent mass shootings in public area i.e., school, malls, movie theater etc. and if not what would you all propose?
