Hello everyone,
It is my hope each of you enjoyed last week off. As we enter into week five of the Criminal Justice Forum I want to thank each of you for your hard-work and dedication thus far. Keeping strive for success!!!!
On Oct.4 2014, Saturday
night in the regional Victorian city of Ballarat, Chef Marcus Volke was found
by police cooking and boiling many parts of his Indonesian girlfriend. Mayang
Prasetyo's remaining body parts was found in their apartment complex in plastic
trash bags. After police arrived Volke fled
the scene by feet.
It was noted he was
hiding from police by a wheelie bin beside the apartment complex. While there
he took his life but the motive for the killing is unknown. Reportedly, neighbors
said the couple from their account showed no signs of a couple with a trouble
history, so attempting to explain this incident is baffling for everyone. I have pasted two videos below for your review.
1.
Do you think there is ever a justifiable
motive for someone to commit an atrocity to this magnitude why or why not?
2.
If Volke had not committed suicide what
would you charge him with and why?

ReplyDeleteThis is NOT a justifiable motive to commit an atrocity like Chef Marcus Volke did. Cooking and boiling his girlfriend’s body parts was disgusting. If Volke wouldn’t have committed suicide I would’ve gave him life time in prison without parole.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Elisa this is not a justifiable reason. What Marcus Volke did was indeed disgusting. I would also give him life time in prison. I also think that Volke doesn't deserve the title of "Chef"anymore.
DeleteI agree that if he was still alive he should deserve life in person for the unjustifiable murder her committed. This crime that was committed was indeed disgusting without a doubt.
DeleteI agree with Elisa if he was still alive he should serve life in prison with no parole
DeleteI agree with you he should have gotten life in prison without parole. It is a shame he decided to take the coward's way out instead of facing the consequences.
DeleteI also agree with you Elisa, there is no justifiable reason on why anyone would commit an atrocity of this degree. I am very curious as to know what triggered him to commit such a heinous crime as the neighbors all implied that the couple looked rather friendly and happy together. As too his charging Volke if he were still alive I also agree that life in prison without parole is applicable.
DeleteI agree with you Elisa. If he were still alive I would to give him life in prison. What Volke did was indeed very disgusting.
DeleteI disagree with you Elisa. Just because reports from neighbors stated that the couple showed no trouble doesn't mean there isn't a motive. What if Volke was "crazy in love" or obsessively in love?
DeleteThere is not a justifiable reason to make an atrocity like the one that Chef Marcus Volke made. To be honest there is never a justifiable reason for killing anyone. What Volke did was wrong and boiling her body parts was worst. If Marcus had not committed suicide I would have gave him life in prison without parole. I would give him this because he took the like of his girlfriend, Mayang, and because he tried to get rid of the evidence and her body by boiling her.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Jenifer, there is not a justifiable reason for killing anyone and it was worst to boil her body in a pot.
DeleteI agree that killing is just bad plain and simple, there wasn't a justifiable reason for him to do what he had done.
DeleteI also agree with you Jenifer. There is no justifiable reason for anyone to commit a crime like the murder and dismembering of another person, like Volke did to his girlfriend. Volke is a sick man and I couldn't agree more with you on sentencing him to life in prison if he were still alive.
DeleteI disagree with you Jenifer. Motives are hypothetical constructs, used to explain why people do what they do. There can be reasons on why a person killed another person. So yes there can be a reason on why Volke killed his girlfriend.
DeleteI know what you're saying, Alyssa, and I understand. I'm not saying that there is no good reasons for killing someone. For example, if someone kills my mom of course I'm going to want to kill that person and it'll be a good reason, but that still doesn't make it justifiable.
DeleteI agree with you Jennifer. Nobody has the right to take somebody else's life no matter what the reason. There might have been hidden problems but that doesn't make it right for him to do that to her and then try to hide it. He deserved life in prison.
DeleteI agree with you, Jennifer. I also believe he should recieve life in prison because what he did was harsh and unhuman therefore he should spend a long time thinking about what he did.
DeleteI agree with you boiling someone's body parts is just nasty I wounder why he would do something like that.
DeleteI agree with Jennifer. Killing someone like this is terrible. It is unfair to kill someone in this horrible manner. Boiling her is just not justifiable.
DeleteThis is not a justifiable motive to commit a horrible and disgusting crime such as Chef Marcus Volke made. No one should ever be stuck in a pot and be boiled after being dead. If Volke did not commit suicide I would have gave him life in prison without parole.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you Adrian. He deserves to be in prison for life, who would do such a thing like that to their girlfriend.
DeleteI agree with you Adrian. No one should ever be stuck into a pot and boiled after death, especially a girlfriend.
DeleteI agree with you Adrian . What sick person on earth will do that to his girlfriend . If he was still living I would make sure he gets the punishment he deserves!
DeleteI agree. This is a horrible thing to do to a person after he brutally murdered her. He knew what he was doing and he deserved what was coming to him, but he took the easy way out by committing suicide.
DeleteI agree Benjamin. This is a horrible thing to do to a person! Then, for him to commit suicide? Now justice cant be served because he isn't here for punishment.
DeleteThis is not a justify reason because that is just crazy, for killing his girlfriend and cut her body parts. If he hadn't commit a suicide I would charge him 40 years in prision without parroll for murder. And this isn't a justify reason to do this kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteI Disagree. Giving him 40 years ? Just for killing & cutting up his girlfriend and cooking her? I don't think that is a good enough justification for someone who did that to their girlfriend.
DeleteI don't think 40 years is enough time for what he did. I would give him life in prison without parole. Remember he didn't just kill her he also cut p her body.
DeleteI disagree with you I don’t believe he should get 40 years in prison the crime he did was just horrible, He deserves life in prison and let him suffer in there.
DeleteI agree with Emanuel because its just a crazy act someone can do.What I dont agree on is the time he would give volke, it's not fair .
DeleteI would give him life in prison with no chance of parol or the death penlty if he was alive.what kind of person would cut up body parts really over there is crazy people.I agree with emanuel with the not justify reason because its just a crazy thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Marisa, I would too give him the death pertly if he still was alive because that’s just nasty of what he did.
DeleteI agree with you Marisa. BUT. I would not give him the DEATH PENALTY. He wanted to kill himself after all. Oh yeah you spell penalty wrong.
DeleteI agree with Marisa that he should be given the death penalty because nobody deserves to be murdered then cooked! Not even having him in psychiatric help would have helped him. He doesn't deserve to live life,he could have possibly done this to somebody else.
DeleteI agree with Marisa Ramirez, I would as well give Volke the death penalty if he didn't commit suicide. Also, such crime is not or never justfiable.
DeleteI believe there is no way to justify such a horrible and disgusting crime that chef Marcus Volke made. No one should have to go through what that young lady did especially put in a pot. If chef volke did not commit suicide I think I would give life time in prison without parole. Mainly because he killed her and on top of that tried to dispose the evidence by cooking his girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, Alexis. There is no justifiable reason to do that horrible crime. No one should go through what that young woman went through. If he was still a live and had not commit suicide , I too, would give him a sentence of death penalty and charged with either second or first degree murder because most than likely he did it on purpose and maybe even planned.
DeleteI totally agree with Vega. That dude is a coward.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI agree with you Alexis, there is no reason to why someone should face a death like that. He should be placed in prison for 40 years with no possibility of parole.
DeleteI agree Alexis. There is no justifiable reason for boiling her body parts. Normal people just dont do that. Hopefully she was already dead when he cut her body parts off.
DeleteI agree with Alexis Vega, I believe such crime was disturbing. The girlfriend did not deserve how she passed away, to any sense, no one does.
DeleteI believe that there is never a justifiable motive for someone to commit an atrocity to this magnitude. In reality there is never a good enough justification to kill someone. If Volke had not committed suicide I would give him the death penalty or life in prison. Obviously no parole.
ReplyDeleteI agree. No matter in which ever circumstances a person might be in there is no justifiable motive to do such act. We also have to see if he was in his right mind because as I stated in my respond, he might have been in some type of medication. I also would sentence him the death penalty because this act is just not a normal thing and it’s just catastrophic.
DeleteCindy, I agree with you. He couldn't have had a justifiable motive to do that to his loved one. I would also give him life in prison.
DeleteNo, I personally do not believe there is ever a justifiable motive for someone to commit an atrocity to this magnitude. No person no matter what he or she has done previously deserves to be murder in such way. What has been done to this girl is inhumane and should not be wished upon anyone! As I stated before no person should die in the way this young girl did. Perhaps he might have had some mental disorder or somewhat related to it that pushed him towards that. I also think this case should be investigated deeper or enough to figure out the motive. Perhaps medication is found or so on. If Volke had not commit suicide I would charge him with either first degree murder or second degree because he fled the scene.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Julia, there is no justifiable motive to what Volke did. I also agree that this was an atrocity, and no one should face this type of death.
DeleteJulia I agree with you. What this individual did was very inhuman. Who cuts up a person and then cooks them as if she is a kind of animal? I also believe he had some kind of mental disorder since this was a unthinkable crime.
DeleteNo, I totally not justifiable motive. No person shouldn't deserves to be murder in that such way. This crime is horrible. What up with guys now a day. They always do horrible crime. If Chef Marcus Volke didn't took his life, I will give him life in prison. What a coward.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Roberto no one deserves to be murdered that way.
DeleteI agree with you Roberto. He is a coward. He killed and wanted to get out of facing the consequences by taking the easy way out and his life.
DeleteIn my opinion there is no justification for what Marcus Volke has committed. There is no reason for killing someone and then start to cook and boil them. This is a heinous act, and there is no real justification for it. If Volke was still alive I would charge him with the murder of his girlfriend. As a sentence I would give him 40 years in prison without the possibility of parole. Adding to the sentence, if he was still alive put him under psychiatric help, this way there would be a possibility to find the motive behind the murder.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Cesar that there is no motive for cooking and boiling it after their death. This is just a crazy man who needed some serious psychiatric help. I also agree as a charge he will be held for the murder of his girlfriend.
DeleteCesar, I agree with you. What Marcus Volke did was indeed a heinous act. What he did was a odious crime and his girlfriend suffered a horrific death.
DeleteI agree with Cesar, what Marcus did was was horrible and there's no justification for it.
DeleteIn my perspective this was no incident of atrocity. There was no motive for the act of killing in this situation. If anything there can be an act of defense but cooking then boiling the remains is redundant. It wasn't needed to do such a thing, now that is a person who has a really sick mind. He clearly needed some type of psychiatric help.If Volke was still alive i would charge him with first degree murder with 80years in prison with parole for all the damage he did to his girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Ariana. He did need psychiatric help if he did have the nerve to cook and boil the remains he needed help.
DeleteIt's not that there was not any motive behind this, we just don't know what the motive was. In my opinion, we should first try and figure out why the killer did what he did and then pass on judgement.
DeleteMarcus volke did not have a justifiable motive for what he has done. No one deserves to be murdered and then cooked I don't see how any human being could do such a thing. You would have to be mentally I'll to be able to do such a horrific crime. If volke was still alive I would give him with life in prison with no parole because he is clearly a dangerous man.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Eleazar. Chef Marcus Volke has no justifiable motive for what he has done. If he were still alive I would also give him life in prison.
DeleteMarcus volke is just flat out worng. You don't have he right to kill someone. Even worse he boiled her body. THis woman didn't deserve that . I would have gave him the death penallty. If he was alive.
ReplyDeleteI agree with ariana! 80 years of prison is a little odd.
ReplyDeleteCesar is avery smart man! i would have observed him! Just to figure out the motive of this.
ReplyDeleteI really think that Marcus Volke is sick. Who would do such a thing with a human? I really don't think there is a justifiable motive for him to commit that atrocity, that's just too much. If he hadn't committed suicide I would charge him with murder and life in prison.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Karla. Volk deserves life in prison for the atrocious act he committed on the women’s body. He is a very, very sick man that needed help. If he was still alive I would have a professional observe him. In order to find out what causes a human being to do such a horrible thing.
DeleteI agree with you Karla. Volk's actions were very insane. He obviously needed help. If he hadn't committed suicide I would of gave him life in prison. I would of interrogate him until I to find out his motive.
DeleteI agree with you Karla on how Volka deserves life in prison if he never killed himself. He was a sick man his actions on killing that girl was horrible.
DeleteI agree with you a person who boils there own girlfriend is just nasty and sick and I would do the samething give him life in prison.
DeleteI agree with you Karla no person should be murdered for that reason. Like you said this man is sick ,and i also agree with you too on that ,what kind of person does that. If he was still alive he should be put in prison for life.
DeleteNo, I do not believe there is a good enough motive to commit an atrocity of this magnitude. I believe this because it is a very horrible way to kill someone. No matter what someone has done to you. If Volk had not been a coward and had killed himself I would have given him life in prison. Possibly even the death penalty. Because he committed a murder in the most inhuman way possible, that he must pay for. When police finish investigating Volk’s motives and discover that they were over something so simple like a breakup then I would definitely give him the death penalty.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Juanita. I also believe Volk is a coward for taking his life and not dealing with his consequences. I also agree that no one should ever experience this no matter what the situation is.
DeleteI know what Volke did was wrong and unjustifiable and I agree with you, Juanita, when you say that you would give him life in prison. I also want to point out that it takes a very strong person to actually kill them selves but when a person does such an inhummane act like the one that Volke it makes it a lot easier for them.
DeleteI agree with you Juanita. I believe he didn't have a motive because he also killed himself. I would give him life in prison because of how disturbing the murder was.
DeleteYes, i agree with you Juanita no person deserves this type of murder or any other type. This man is sick for doing such thing. Nobody would like to go through those type of things im pretty sure that he was crazy in order for him to do that. If he was alive he would've been in prison right now.

ReplyDeleteNo, there is no justifiable motive to commit an atrocity like this. Chef Marcus actions were very insane and unexplainable. Not only did he kill his girlfriend, but boiled her in water afterwards. What was he going to do with it ? Eat it? I believe Marcus was mentally ill because what he did was inhumane. Marcus took the easy way out by committing suicide, and not facing his mistakes. If he had not committed suicide I would of gave him life in prison without parole.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Flor. I agree that Marcus was ill and is inhumane. I also agree with her sentence that she would give Marcus if he had not committed suicide.
DeleteI agree with Flor. Like what was he actually going to do with the boiled body parts? This was a very sick action on his part.
DeleteMarcus' actions have no justification. I agree with you, Flor. He is mentally ill and if he were alive, he'd need to receive help. He felt some type of sorrow because he took his own life. However, that would not have changed a thing. Life in prison is more than reasonable.
DeleteI don't believe there is ever a reason to kill someone unless it is self defense which I doubt is the case here. This man decided he did not want to face the consequence and took the coward's way out. Had he not I think life in prison without parole would have been the right sentence.
ReplyDeleteI aggree with Ashley in practically all aspects of her response.
DeleteI believe under any circumstances it would never be justifiable to dismember a body and try to cook the corpus. If Chef Marcus was still alive and I would have to give him a sentence I would assign him to life in prison with no possibility of parole. Marcus is a coward for doing what he did, and then ending his life to make it easier on himself. That is why I would have sentenced him to life in prison with no chance of parole.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Alexis. I believe that there is no justifiable reason for Marcus actions. He did find the easy way out by committing suicide. If he was still alive I would of also gave him life in prison with no parole.
DeleteI agree with my girl Alexia, I would of gave Marcus life in prison with no chance of parole. And cooking his girlfriend's body parts for no reason is unacceptable.
DeleteI agree with you Alexia, giving him life in prison would give him an opportunity to think about what he’s done.
DeleteI believe there isn't anything that would make anybody kills someone else, killing isn’t the right way to solve a problem. He was not scared on killing his girlfriend but scared of getting arrested so he tooked his life away that makes no sense. If he would have never killed himself I would of giving him life in prison, if not in a mental hospital. That was a horrible way to kill someone.
ReplyDeleteLike many of my classmates have already stated, there was no justifiable reason for Volke to murder, dismember and then cook his girlfriend’s body parts. In my opinion Volke is a sick man, and when I realized he was a chef there were so many things I could only imagine a sick man like him was planning to do with his girlfriends cooked body parts. However I would also like to know what could have triggered Volke to commit such a heinous crime when all of the people who knew the couple said they appeared to get along just fine. If Volke were still alive I would not hesitate to sentence him to life in prison without parole.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't have stated this better myself. I agree with all your statements, as everyone else will agree also. The actual thoughts that come to mind that he was boiling his girlfriend's body parts are sickening. He is really sick and should have spent the rest of his life in prison.
DeleteI believe there is absolutely no justifiable motive for someone to have committed an atrocity to this magnitude. Volke is a very sick man for what he did. He murdered his girlfriend and boiled her, who in their right mind would do such a thing. He decided he didn’t want to face the consequences of his action so then committed suicide only to make it easier on himself. If he were still alive I would give him life in prison with absolutely no possibility of parole.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree with you pati because he shouldn't have the right to even see or be with anybody else. Volke is very sick in the head I would just give him death role if he was still alive.
DeleteI agree with you, Volke was a sick man and needed help.
DeleteVolke had to be sick to the head to be able to cut her up and boil her for an unknown reason. If he hadn't committed suicide i would of gave him death role. The reason why is because , he did a crime within a crime he killed her , chopped her up , and boiled her.
ReplyDeleteWell I think that there is only one justifiable reason to kill some one, self-defense.This reason apparently does not apply to this situation and it certainly not the way Volke killed his girlfriend. Boiling her body parts was a very harsh thing to do without a doubt. Then killing yourself afterward is just cowardly. If he were still alive I would give him life in prison without parole.
ReplyDeleteI don't think self defense was involved with this case either. There would be no reason for the suspect to cut up the victim's remains if that was the case. I think that something else was going on between the two, and further investigation will reveal that.
DeleteI don't think there is ever a justifiable motive for someone to commit an atrocity to this magnitude. I believe that one might kill for self-defense, however, boiling body parts is not acceptable. This man was, without a doubt, sick in the head. Even if he had a motive to kill his OWN girlfriend, he did not have a motive to cook her. What he was going to do with the body parts are a horrific mystery. He shows remorse by taking his own life. If he wouldn't have committed suicide, I'd give him life in prison without parole.
ReplyDeleteIndeed there is ever a justifiable motive to this. It is just sickening to of cooking her body parts. I would also agree to you that this man, if he didn't commit suicide, life in prison without parole
DeleteI agree with you Lourdes, he went to far. It's a good thing he committed suicide because if he didn't then he would of spent the rest of his life in a place that would seem like hell.
DeleteI strongly agree with your opinion. His crime is not justifiable. The actions towards her body after killing her were sickening. I would also give him life in prison without parole.
DeleteNo, Marcus Volke did not have a justifiable motive for what he has done. After them being seen as a happy couple I don't know what would of made Marcus do that to his girlfriend. No one deserves to get killed and have their body parts cooked. If Marcus Volke had not committed suicide I would charge him with life in prison and absolutely no chance of parole.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he just decided when he woke up one day that he was going to kill his girlfriend. Maybe they were fighting on the low.
DeleteI think that there is always a justable reason as to why someone does something. People don't just kill other people just because they feel like it. There's a motive behind everything that we do as humans. Maybe there was something going on between the suspect and the victim behind closed doors. If the suspect wouldn't have committed suicide, I would've given him life in prison with no parole so he can think about what he's done for the rest of his life.
ReplyDeleteThat last sentence made sense to me. Slicing the parts of his deceased girlfriend will haunt him for the rest of his life. Its just so cruel of what he did.
DeleteI disagree with Jonathan there is never a justifiable reason for what a person does when it involves a crime. She is completely wrong in this by saying that there is a justifiable reason for these actions.
DeleteI disagree with you, there are sick people out there that will murder someone just for no reason. Also, I do agree with your sanction.
DeleteThere is no justifiable reason to his suicide. He is just a crazy psychotic man for doing this. There is other murders of which a boyfriend murders his girlfriend and the other way around. But this gruesome murdering of a girlfriend is just crazy. Cutting or slicing her body parts is so cruel and then boiling them. If this mad man didn't kill himself definitely life in prison or on death role
ReplyDeleteI agree with Javier this is no reason for slicing up his girlfriend. There really isn't any way to justify it.
DeleteI agree with you Javier, this was a gruesome murder. He sliced her body up and then boiled it up which is pretty harsh. It is definitely life time in prison or maybe even the death penalty.
DeleteNo, there is never a justifiable motive for someone to commit an atrocity of this magnitude. There should be no reason why a person would do such thing to another human being. It's just sick for somebody to cook someone else. If Volke didn't commit suicide I charge him with manslaughter and sentence him to life in prison without parole
ReplyDeleteI agree, with Jorge no man or women should be treated like that nor should be cooked for no reason it's cruel and brutal. Jorge is right he should be charged with manslaughter and life in prison without parole.
DeleteThere could have been a motive for him to kill her. He may have been so in love with her to the point were he didn't want to lose her. Also he could've been thinking that she was finding interest in another or try to find interest. He may have been obsessively in love with her. If Volke had not committed suicide, first I would've have sent him to a psychiatrist to see what was on his mind at the time, then sentenced him based off of what the psychiatrist said.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to disagree , because I said No, there is never a justifiable motive for someone to commit an atrocity of this magnitude. There should be no reason why a person would do such thing to another human being. It's just sick for somebody to cook someone else.
ReplyDeleteThere is no reason for someone to commit an atrocity to this magnitude. He is messed up in the head. He actually thought he could get away with slicing his girlfriend into pieces and boiling her. If he wouldn't of had committed suicide then I would have him spend the rest of his life in prison without parole.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Ramiro. He is very sick for doing that to his former girlfriend's remainings. I would also give him life in prison without parole. He should not be able to step out of prison and cause more harm.
DeleteI agree the suspect had to be mentally sick to think that he could be passive of such crime.
DeleteI also agree with you Ramiro because no one should commit an atrocity at all people in this world are insane and I would also give him life in prison without parole.
DeleteI agree with you Ramiro because that guy is probably messed up in the head. It's just crazy to read about someone doing something like this
DeleteThere is no justification into committing atrocity. Murder is a crime and should not be exempted by anybody. Volke committed a horrific murder against his former girlfriend. If Volke had not committed suicide, I would have charged him with life in prison without parole. He is a danger in society and should not step out of prison.
ReplyDeleteI agree, The suspect is very dangerous to have out here in the public. He could cause many problems for society.
DeleteI strongly agree with you because a crime is a crime and it could never be exempted especially murder the one who commits a crime needs to pay for what they did.
DeleteI agree with Zaira Lopez because there is no justification for this. I would also give Volke life in prison.
DeleteI do not believe that there is ever a justifiable motive for someone to commit something like this. To murder someone is one thing but to sit there and cook them is a whole different level. If the suspect hadn't committed suicide I would have charged him life in prison with out parole, because the crime was so brutal.
ReplyDeleteI agree, with yulissa that the suspect should be in prison without parole it's cruel and unsafe for people like him to be around .
DeleteI agree with Yulissa because what the man did was just horrible. It was like something you would only see in a horror film. This world doesn't need guys like him to be around.
DeleteI agree with Yulissa, it is already bad to kill someone. But to sit there while you cook the dead body is just cruel and nasty.
DeleteI agree with yulissa we all know is bad to go kill someone and to cook her in top of that and you looking at it its just wrong.
DeleteI truly believe there is no justifiable motive for someone to commit an atrocity to this magnitude. I know there sick people out there but what kind of person would do such a thing. It's cruel and unfair for the family of that girl to suffer. Why would he do that? Like seriously why couldn't he just break up with her but who knows . If the suspect did not committed suicide I would give him life in prison without parole, because it's a crime that no one would like to hear and cause he's crazy those sick people should stay in prison.
ReplyDeleteThere is no motive for that. That just pure evil. To be able to do that you have to be Psycho! If he hadn't killed himself , I would give him life in prison for muder!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I think that there isn't and never will be a motive for that its unforgivable and pure insanely evil. If he hadn't committed suicide I would give him life in prison because he committed a crucial murder.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Alexis. This was just a sick and horriable crime he has commited. I dont think there will ever be a motive for this.
DeleteWe don't know why Volke did this. With that being said, I don't think there's ever a justifiable motive to commit such an atrocity. Unless they were being forced to and the fate of the world was in their hands. then you could make an argument. If Volke's hadn't committed suicide, I would've probably given him life without parole. Even though we don't know why or how this happened, I'm just making assumptions.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Jorge Garcia, such motive is an extreme atrocity. Also, if Volke wouldn't have committed suicide, i would as well give him life without parole.
DeleteI do not believe there is a justifiable motive for this murder. How much hatred would you have for someone to cook and boil their body parts? The neighbor's also said they didn't notice any signs of a bad relationship. There could have been other ways to handle the bad situation. If the suspect didn't commit suicide I would have gave him life in prison without parole.
ReplyDeleteI believe that there cannot be any kind of justifiable reason for someone to commit murder especially when someone is being cooked. I agree with you that there are other ways in which they could’ve dealt with their relationship problems. Killing someone is never a solution to a problem.
DeleteThere isn't a motive reasonable enough for someone to murder their girlfriend in this particular way. If there weren't any sighs of them having trouble with each other, then the situation could've been handled differently. If Volke was to survive, I would give him life in prison without parole.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Benjamin. There is no justifiable reason for someone to kill another person especially their girlfriend. There was no reason as to why he did it so things could have been treated way differently. I would also give hin life in prison.
DeleteI also agree with you Benjamin.THe motive to killing someone is unjustifiable especially if it is with someone you are with and did not have any signs of trouble in the relationship. Yes, i think he could have handled the situation differently. He deserves to be sitting in prison for the rest of his life thinking about what he has done without parole.
DeleteI agree with Benjamin. There were no reason for him to even commit this crime. Nothing was wrong for him to even start to do this. He belongs to rot in prison.
DeleteI don't believe that there is a justifiable reason for Volke to commit this crime. For someone to go out and kill their girlfriend then to cook her? That is just sickening. There also wasn't any signs of a bad relationship so we don't know. If Volke didn't commit suicide, I would've given him life in prison.
ReplyDeleteTo murder someone, dismember their body, and proceed to cook them is an unjustifiable act. I understand a self-defense murder, however to dismember and cook someone is going way beyond normal circumstances. There is absolutely no logical reason as to why this man did this to his girlfriend. If Volke had not committed suicide, I would charge him with second degree murder, and sentence him to life in prison without the possibility of parole. We are unaware if the murder was premeditated; therefore second degree murder is appropriate.
ReplyDeleteNo, there's no reason for these kind of crimes to happen. If there is an argument between a couple the best thing to do is walk away and let it go. Killing the other person will not solve problems but make more. If the suspect was still alive I would give him life time in prison with no chance of parole.
ReplyDeleteI strongly agree with you Daniel if a couple had an argument they should talk about it, and if they don’t come to an agreement then one of them should leave the premises. Taking someone's life is not the option to any problem. Like you said it will only create more problems for them.
DeleteI agree with Maddy, threre is no reason to coment any crime In this nature.
ReplyDeleteIf he was still living, he would of got the punishment he deserves!
ReplyDeleteI dont think there is a justifiable motive for someone to commit an atrocity to this magnitude. I'm someone who is already in jail for murder would consider this prosposterous. Human dont boil human. Thats nonsense. No matter what the other person did, it isn't right to boil them. There are plenty of other less violent ways to deal with the situation. If Volke had not commited suicide I think he would've been charged with murder because he killed someone.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your statement Alex. If Volke was still alive he should be life in prison without the possiability to get out. This crime was unusual and I also dont think there is a justifiable motive for this
DeleteI don’t believe that there is a justifiable motive to commit this kind of atrocity. No one should have the right to take someone else’s life especially like this. She did not deserve to have her life taken away. If Volke was still alive I would give him life in prison without parole so he can spend the rest of his life in prison.
ReplyDeleteI believe he knew he was going to eventually get caught and face a real big charge, as well as him feeling maybe bad for what he has done. I would have charged him with Capital Murder.
ReplyDeleteLife in prison with no parole. He didnt just kill someone and leave them there, he actually took the time to cut her up and boil her parts in thier own apartment complex. That is just crazy and sick!
It is never justifiable for killing someone. What he did was inhuman and cruel, we dont know the exact reason why he did it but one should always be careful of who they are with or dating. He should have been sent to a mental hospital because who would do such a thing like cook and boil their own girlfriend. However, if he was still alive I would sentence him to life in prison or possibly death row.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Jackie, what he did was inhuman and cruel especially the way he committed his crime was just plane sick and disgusting. Yes, people should always take precautions on which they are dating. I just believe give him life in prison because knowing that committed suicide, giving him death penalty would just be a reward.
DeleteI agree with you Jackie that he should have been sent to a mental hospital. I also agree that he should have been placed on death row if he was still alive of course.
DeleteI also agree with you Jackie. Someone who is capable of doing something like that needs to get a mental evaluation. Nonetheless, I agree with your sentencing. I personally believe Volke might have killed his girlfriend because he probably didn't know she was transgender.
DeleteI agree with you Jackie.
DeleteWhat Marcus did was inhuman and cruel. People should be careful with who they date or who they see. I also think if he was still alive he should've had gotten life in prison but, I don't think death row could of been good for him since he took his own life.
There isn't a motive justifiable the guy killed his girlfriend. If he was still alive I will charge with life in prison for killing his girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteI do not think that there is a justifiable motive that caused Chef Marcus Volke to commit such a horrific crime. What he did was disgusting and crucial cutting a human being and boiling the body parts and throwing them away like trash? That is just sick. There were not many details to the story and also neighbors not seeing any sign of a couple with a troubled history. Therefore, it is hard to get an understanding of why the crime was committed. If he had not ran from the scene and were still alive I would give him life in prison without parole.
ReplyDeleteI believe that it’s never justifiable to chop someone up and dump their body parts in chemicals no matter what is the circumstance. Chef Marcus Volke committed a brutal killing by doing what he did .I believe that if someone has done something to another person it should be talked out instead of killing the person or if for some reason you can stand being around the person they should just leave and let it be. If the couple did not have any problems with each other then why did he kill his own girlfriend there was no motive for him to commit that crime. If Volke had not committed suicide I would of charged him with first degree murder and sentence him to the death penalty because it was not right that he killed his girlfriend in such a messed up way.
ReplyDeleteI agree whith tony carbajal it is wrong to chop a person up and dump her
DeleteI agree with tony as if the killing was not a bad crime on its own chef Marcus still dumped her body parts in chemicals. Marcus should have tried to find professional help if he was having criminal thoughts as to kill his girlfriend. The judgment to be sentenced to death is in my opinion is justifiable.
DeleteThere is never a justifiable reason to commit such an act like this. Just because a relationship of mine didn't work out it doesn't mean I have to go off and murder my boyfriend. There are so many other healthy alternatives to turn to then to commit evil acts like this. I don't understand what is happening in our society particularly with the male group. There have been many recent reports of them doing crazy things to women. If Volke were still alive, I would charge him with life in prison for the murder of his girlfriend and trying to flee from the police. He wouldn't deserve a second chance to be a part of our community.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Anaruth that there is no reason anybody should kill anyone over a relationship. I have to stop you there on men! Not all men are bad, but women also can commit such horrible crimes such as this.
DeleteI agree with you Anaruth if the relationship is not working there is no reason to kill someone over it. I believe that not only men commit crimes females have committed horrible crimes as well.
DeleteYes, you are right Ana I agree with you completey men are going crazy now a days. However it can also be females, some people are just crazy and theres not much we can do about it.
DeleteYes, I agree with you Anaruth.
DeleteLike you said just because a person is having problems with their partner in no way does it mean that you can murder them even if the problem goes to the extreme. I also feel like if had not committed suicide he should've had life in prison he doesn't deserve a 2nd chance at life.
Ana Ruth stated her point to the max, she’s right because a relationship didn’t work out doesn’t mean I’ll go cut up my ex and boil him. I think that is just disgusting. He needs help.

ReplyDeleteIt's hard to grasp how someone and be so cruel and kill someone they love. The way he killed her is just so disgusting. She seemed to be a very happy girl and he just took her life for some unknown reason. I agree that he found the easiest way out with killing himself. If he were alive I hope he would've gotten life in prison.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Steven the man did take the cowardly way out and killed himself not able to receive the consequences that came with his horrifying crime. To kill his girlfriend and cut her in to pieces then dump the body in chemicals that’s just messed up.
ReplyDeleteWell first I would like to start off with my personal opinion on what I thik about this "chef". I think he is a sick person who needed help, how could he have a mindset to do this to a person especially to someone meaningfull like his girlfriend. I strongly believe that there is never ever a motive to kill someone or to even wish such thing to anyone. It is sick and very disturbing, Volke must have had some sort of mental illness or he was probably very angry. Even still whatever was going on between him and his girlfriend I say was no motive for him to do such a thing. If Volke hadn't taken away his own life or committed suicide I would have given him life in prison with no possible chance of parole, maybe even the death penalty.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Marcus is a sick guy for doing what he did. Even though he may have been angry this is still unexceptable to do to his girlfriend. If Marcus, However did not get the death penalty i would give him life in prison without parole but i strongly believe he should get death penalty.
DeleteI agree with you Steven , there is never a motive for a crime like this to be committed. It is crazy that this "chef" did this to his girlfriend. Especially the fact that he cooked her, that went to far. I think he may have needed mental help or anger mangament classes.
ReplyDeleteI really can't think of a justifiable motive that caused Marcus Volke to commit such a disgusting inhumanly crime. What he did to the victim was just plain sick. There's simply not enough details to the story that can give some sort of idea for what he did. If he had not taking his life I would charge Marcus with life in prison without parole.
ReplyDeleteI agree, there is no justifiable reason for Marcus to have done this to the girlfriend. However, instead of giving him life in prison i would give him the death penalty because he does not deserve to be alive after what he did.
DeleteI actualy think that he should be send to a insatotion instead of preson cause he choped a human, a person
DeleteI agree with Juan, what kind of person would do something like that only a crazy person would do that. He deserves to spend his life in prison so he can pay the consequences.
DeleteI can't imagine why someone could do this. It is stupid to do that. No matter what he says there's no reason to do it. If he didn't commit suicide I would give him live in prison with no chance of ever getting out.
ReplyDeleteI agree with garvin we all know is bad to go kill someone and to cook her in top of that and you looking at it its just wrong.
Delete-JOSUE ZAVALA
Upon my persective, I don't believe this was a justifiable motive, to any extent. Such crime is something of science fiction, making the situation, rather disturbing. Also, if Volke didn't commit suicide, I would of gave the individual the death penalty; double jeopardy was committed.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Adrian this crime is just unreal. The crime is not justifiable by any means. I agree with the judgment to give the violator the death penalty if he was still alive.
DeleteI don't think there is any justifiable reason on why anyone should do this to another person.Doing this is taking it too far. It's unexceptable. If had not committed suicid, I would give him the death penalty for doing what he did and for hidding from the police.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jasmin, because she has a point. Who would do such a thing and then try to run and hide from the police? You know what you did was wrong and you’ll have consequences after so why even try to run?
DeleteThis is for Christopher Cabrera.
DeleteI agree with Jasmine, he shouldn't have took it to this magnitude. Also, he shouldn't have hid from the authority.
I personally do not think there is a justifiable reason to commit an atrocity to this magnitude he took it a little too far. As much as he loved her he shouldn’t have went to that magnitude to do something like that to her. When you love someone you don’t hurt them. If he was to still be living I would give him life in prison without parole. He doesn’t deserve to be out and about, having new relationship just to kill and boil other girlfriends of his.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Stacy, showing how much you care for someone shouldn't result in taking their life so they can;t move on. He shouldn't recieve parole because like you said he wouldn't change. He needs to face the consequences.
DeleteNo, i do not think that there is a justifible reason to murder a person like so. Theres is no way any person can do a very horrable crime. If Volke did not commit suicide i whould give him life in a insatotion for sick people.
ReplyDeleteThere is never a reason to commit a crime such as this one. Taking a live of a human being is never okay. Committing suicide at the end is a cowardly way of not facing your consequences. If he had not committed suicide, I would give him life in prison without parole.
ReplyDeleteIn my perspective i think that Volke is a crazy man. What kind of person kills their girlfriend just because she doesn't want to be with him anymore. There was no need to chop her body into pieces. If he was still alive i would charge him with life in prison with no parole. Im pretty sure if he was alive he would've been in prison at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThere is not a justifiable reason to make an atrocity like the one that Chef Marcus Volke made. Taking another human beings life is never an acceptable gesture in society. By committing suicide was a coward move on his part due to the fact he couldn't take responsibility for his actions. I would give him life in prison if he was still alive, without parole.
ReplyDeleteThere is no justifible reason for anyone to die like that. The cime he committed was rather disturbing. If he had not committed suicide, i would give him life in prison without parole.
ReplyDeleteI do agree, It's baffling to know that the mindset that others have in society is so atrocious. What gave him the right to do that to another human being? Why did he take his life after? To kill someone and not take the blame or state the reason to the family is cruel. Now the family will be left wondering.

ReplyDeleteNo, I do not think that there is a justifiable reason to murder a person like so. There's is no way any person can do a very horrible crime. If Volke did not commit suicide i would give him life in a facility for sick people.
ReplyDeleteI belive there is no justifiable reason for killing some one and dismembering someones body and boiling their body parts
ReplyDeleteI don't believe there is a logical motive to commit such a crime. There has to be some kind of psychological reason although no motive was present. If he was still alive I would give him life in preison without possibility of parole.
ReplyDeleteNo I don’t think there is a justifiable reason to murder someone especially if she is his girlfriend that is just sick. If he had not commit suicide I would of charged him with life in prison because there is no reason for him to boil or cut a human being.
ReplyDeleteNo, there is no justifiable motive for anyone to commit a crime such as the one in presence. Neighbors said “the couple from their account showed no signs of a couple with a trouble history’’ maybe Marcus Volke had a mental issue. I believe a background check into Volke’s mental back ground.
ReplyDeletei agree with stacy there should be a reason to commit an atrocity to this magnitude he took it alittle too far.
ReplyDeletehe shouldnt recieve parole because like stacy said, he as much as he loved her
This is for Christopher Cabrera.
ReplyDeleteI believe that there is no reason for someone to commit this type of crime. Fighting or violence usually does not solve problems and especially at this horrific level. This was his girlfriend which means he had some type of affection towards her. If he was alive I would charge him with murder , and give him life in prison with no parole.
i really can't imagine someone doing that in my opinion that's so disgusting and dumb i don't know how people have the courage to do that.No one should get to the point to do that to another person no matter what they did.Is just so stupid and immature.
ReplyDelete-JOSUE ZAVALA
There's no justifiable reason because killing a innocent person is just a crazy thing to do. I would give him life in prison without no chance of parol.
ReplyDeleteNo there is no reason for anyone to kill nobody because everyone diserve to live. Taking someones life is big. I would give him life in prison.
