Re: Gary Hernandez; week ten blog..

Re: Gary Hernandez; week ten blog.
Boston prosecutors will tell Attorney General Eric Holder this week whether they think marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev should face the death penalty. The feds disclosed the timetable during a status hearing Tuesday. The judge said he wants a final decision from Holder by Jan. 31. It could be more than a year before Tsarnaev, 20, goes to trial on charges that he built and planted pressure-cooker bombs that killed three people and injured more than 260 near the finish line of the iconic April 15 race.
He was not in court for the hearing, but his lawyers asked the judge lift so-called "special administrative measures" that restrict his contact with the outside world while he's held in federal lockup at Fort Devens. They also complained that prosecutors have not turned over all the evidence they're supposed to, including information tying their client's brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, to a 2011 triple homicide.  Please access the article below for additional information in your quest to respond to the questions below.
Do you think Tsarvaev should receive the death penalty? If not what charges would you give him?
What punishment do you think his brother deserves?

  2. I strongly believe that Tsarvaev deserves the death penalty because an officer was wounded , but not only that their was several deaths, As to what punishment should the brother get If he was alive I would give him 90 years in prison without parole for being an accomplice.

    2. I agree with you. He ruined many peoples lifes and families. Many people lost many people in their lifes because of these two that had to do what they did according to them. The death penalty is what I think that should be given.

    3. Yes Angelica I agree with you , he deserves the death penalty for taking the lifes of many .

    4. Why would you give one a more severe punishment than the other? They both commited the same crime so its only logical to condem them to the same sentencing. After all, theychad equal responsibility in the tragedy that occured.

    5. I agree with you .He deserves the death penalty .He took many innocent people lives and even children lives also. They both should get the same sentence. Many people lost family members and some probably don’t want him living. You can’t just go through life without getting a free ticket to bomb innocent people.

    7. I agree that he should get the death penalty ,because he killed three innocent people and injured 260 running in that marathon for a good cause and him and his brother made booms and placed them at end of the finish line ,but if his brother was alive I would give him the same because he was also an accomplish to the booming and help create the booms so he is just as guilty as his older brother.

    1. I agree with you. Many peoples lifes were taking that day. Many inoccent peoples lifes at that. What happened to all those people was not supposed to happen and was definitely no expected. All the people that went were most likely hurt or ended up passing. They should both get the death penalty.

    2. Really? You don't think they should get the same punishment. I mean both of them commited the crime. And even if the brother didn't play a big part in the bombing. He still had the power to stop him.

    3. I sort of agree. I do think Tsarvaev should get the death penalty but i think hios brother should to. They both knew they were gonna bomb that area and both of them didn't stop each other.

    4. I have to say I disagree with the punishment for Tsarvaev's brother. His brother is just as guilty as he is for the Boston bombing. It's like Juanita said, they both had the power to stop this from happening but they chose not to. They also both knew that innocent lives could have been taken but they did not care. They took away 6 lives and injured 260 people that day together. Life to me is a privilege. Tamerlan and Dzhokhar took away that privilege from people who had not done anything to them. Therefore, we should do the same to them and give them both the death penalty.

    5. I agree with the part that Tsarvaev deserves the death penalty but I don't agree with the part of giving his brother life in prison. They both knew what they where doing and all the people they were going to hurt.

    6. Your sentencing seems very fair to me. I agree with it. They both did have a part in it, however, the brother was only an accomplice. He should still get life in prison without parole like you stated. If we give everyone that had the power to stop chaos from happening but chose not to, then half of the world would have the death penalty.

    7. I agree with Jackie that Tsarvaev deserves the death penalty for taking away three innocent lives ,but I do disagree about the other brother getting life in prison, because he is just as guilty as his older brother for the deaths of three people and injured 260 people.

    8. I disagree with you Jackie like all the way. Both deserve life in prison because they shouldn't be taking the easy way out. If you give one the death penalty hes going to be in peace knowing he didn't have to sit in prison and rot like the others. For the other even being an accomplice for doing the exact same thing and you would give him life in prison that doesn't make any sense to me. They both equally deserve the same sentence whether it be life in prison or the death penalty.

    1. I agree the thing that bothers me the most is that most people who are guilty of homicide have no remorse to the victims or their families. I cannot imagine taking someone’s life and not having a guilty feeling about it. There’s always a deep root in situations like this but that still doesn’t exempt the Tsarnaev brothers from their crimes or their sanctions.

    2. I agree with you. Tsarnaev was wrong for bombing the race, killing and injuring innocent people. Tsarnaev did destroy the families lives because they lost their loved ones and its hard to replace them. Tsarnaev needs to be sent to death penalty as soon as possible.

Many people will not have their fathers, mothers, children, nieces, nephews, future wife’s, future husbands, none. It was all so distraught. He does not deserve to live on this earth from what all he's done. He ruined that city and much more forever. That city will be none as the "Bombing City" in my perspective. In my opinion, I also think the brother should get the same thing because he was a part of it. He was an accomplice and surely deserves the same thing because he also ruined a lot. The families deserve justice by having these two gone for good so they will not be able to harm anyone else, again.

  9. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev most definitely diserves the death penalty. He knew what he was doing when he createed the bomb, knowing what the consequences where he went on and did it anyways. He took away three lives and put more than 200 people's live in danger and got injured. Those people were doing a marathon and they wern't bothering them for the guys to do that. His older brother Tamerlan, a suspected accomplice in the bombing, was killed in a firefight with police. Therefore he got what he deserved too for helping his younger brother.

  10. I feel that tsarnaev along with his brother should receive the death penalty. Because their destructive actions towards humanity have proven that they do not apprecciate life. So, it only fair, at least in my opinion that their life should be taken. However, if it was me I would not execute them fast. I would leave them enough time to reflect over the horrendous crime they had commited.

Giving them the death penalty probably won't give the victim's family closure but at least they can have a peace at mind. I don’t believe that they should have any thing less then the death penalty, not even life because that will give them the opportunity to commit suicide. The idea of a sanction is to give them a punishment for their crime, not make it accessible for them to take the easy way out like cowards.

If Tamerlan were still alive he would have just as much fault and involvement in the Boston bombing than his brother. These excuses are just hiding the fact that the brothers committed a mass killing of innocents. Hence, the brothers need to receive the death penalty for their actions.

  29. I think he deserves the death penalty, I know some people might disagree with me. The reason he deserves the death penalty is because he killed three people one of them was a child and injured more than 260 people. In which he wasn't attempting to injured but kill instead.

Not only did Dzhokhar Tsarnaev kill innocent civilians, but killed an officer as well as injured many others. He also used a massive destructive weapon, bombed a public place, and stole a vehicle. As for the brother, I believe he should get life in prison without parole for being an accomplice.

Giving these men the death penalty will give the victims family a sense of closure of knowing that they will not do this to anyone else. These men should also be in solitary confinement for 3 months leading to the execution date. These men had the intent to kill as many people as possible without feeling guilty, so without shadow of a doubt these men should be receiving the worst possible punishment that can be given legally. Also, these men should be under surveillance so suicide or another bomb does not come about.

  46. Personally I would want both of them to suffer and pay the consequences. I understand that Tsarnaev faces federal charges, including using a weapon of mass destruction, bombing a place of public use, carjacking, conspiracy and firearms violation that could bring the death penalty. This incident that happened seems to me as a terrorist attack and usually the bombers plan to die in the occurrence of the bombing. If they do receive the Death penalty the law would be giving them the satisfaction of getting away with the crime. They put the lives of many people in danger and they should pay the price. Therefore their punishment should be life in prison without any chance of parole, but they should keep them in total isolation so that they will at one point beg for mercy.

Yes, I’m aware that he built and planted bombs that killed and injured a lot people, but the death penalty would be the easy way out. The victim’s families want justice but the death penalty won’t really solve it. I think he should get sanctioned to a prison not in the United States for life. He should suffer and be confined all his life. He is young, so he would be there for long time thinking about all the things he could have done if he was not locked up. That is better than just having him die and not suffering. As for the brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, I too believe he should be sentenced to prison for life. The means of these actions should be just in the need of help. But in this case of killing innocence he should just be on the death penalty. No parole should be given and as well as under suicide watch.

  70. In my point of view Tsarveaeu deserves the death penalty, not only for the bombings, but also for the lives that were taken on the day of the marathon. He is currently 20 years old, and some one at that age can be conscious enough to see what they are doing. He must of known what he was doing, and he didn't care of what he was doing. If his brother was still alive I also think he should get the death penalty. He deserves the death penalty. There shouldn't be a second thought on that. but if he doesn't get the death penalty he should get life in prison with out parole.

  71. I believe that Tsarvaev deserves the death penalty. He deserves it for taking those three peoples lives and injuring 260 as well. He was intending to kill as many people as he could by plating a bomb which to me he has every reason to get the death penalty. Also his brother should also get the death penalty for that triple homicide.

  72. I believe that Tsarvaev should in fact receive the death penalty. Nobody should get the death penalty unless they deserve it, Tamerlan Tsarvaev deserves it! He affected so many lives of the innocent in a negative way. He killed three people and injured more than 260, what else would it take to deserve the death penalty? In my opinion, nothing. They were there to support the race, they never saw it coming. As for his brother, I think he deserved a long time in prison if he were still alive.

  73. In my opinion, I believe Tsarvaev deserves the death penalty because he obviously did not care taking away innocent people´s lives. He injured several people, killed people and broke their families forever. However, I would give the brother, life in prison with out parole. Jose gonzalez A1

  75. I don't believe that he should receive the death penalty. If he receives the death penalty he would be receiving the easy way out. On the other hand if he should receive life in prison without parole he would have to live with the thought that he murdered all of those people and ruined many others.
